QVC wins Best Shopping Channel

Company scoops prize at this year?s Freesat Awards

QVC has received the prize for Best Shopping Channel at the Freesat Awards, 2010, which marks the best in channel and services available on the free-to-air satellite TV service.

The company was selected by panel of senior industry representatives from a field including Create & Craft, Ideal World and Pitch TV.

The Freesat Awards ceremony, which was hosted by comedian Ed Byrne, took place at the Delfina Galleries in London.

In commendation of QVC, the judges said: “The shopping genre is very important for satellite TV and for Freesat. QVC really stands out – it is positive and very professionally produced. The channel has a very UK centric focus and has successfully created a whole lifestyle around its programming.”

QVC introduces more than 200 new products each week, with viewers phoning in to programmes with comments and questions for the presenters during 17 hours of live TV every day. Combined with website QVCUK.com, QVC provides a unique shopping experience.

The Freesat Awards Ceremony was sponsored by Arqiva and supported by EchoStar Europe.
