35th event in Mumbai responds to requests from attendees.

The 35th World Diamond Congress (WDC), due to take place on October 14 to 17 in Mumbai, has extended its application times in response to “numerous requests”.

The organisers – the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) – have taken the step to keep general registration open until September 30th. Thereafter a $100 (£63) late fee will be added to anyone applying to attend after October 1, with registration closing on October 7.

In a message on the 35th WDC website the organisers said that it was extending the registration in response "to requests received from many delegates wishing to attend the Congress, who have not been able to register for various reasons”.

The International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) secretary general Ronnie Vander-Linden thanked the GJEPC and BDB for their help.

He stated: "As the diamond business communities in Belgium, Israel and elsewhere came back from their summer leave only toward the end of August, many delegates had not yet been able to register and make their travel arrangements.

“At the same time, we are urging all delegates and participants to the 35th World Diamond Congress to register and book their rooms as soon as possible.”
