Trade charity, retailTRUST, has partnered with Oxford Summer School to offer a selection of fully and part-funded scholarship on its retail courses in the coming months.

Oxford Summer School is a talent-development course provider, specifically designed for the retail sector. retailTRUST is the School’s headline partner and as such, provides a number of both fully and part-funded courses at foundation, academy and masters level.

These courses allow retail workers, in all levels of the industry, the opportunity to gain key business skills and to develop their retail career and the success of their organisation too.

The masters course for 2015 has recently finished for the year, and has been heralded a great success. Applications for the foundation and academy courses are now open, and retailTRUST are delighted to be able to offer a number of scholarships to potential applicants.

retailTRUST’s sponsorship of Oxford Summer School ties into the charity’s ethos of supporting and developing the retail industry at a grassroots level. The charity has targeted the development of individual talent and the creation of opportunities as a central element to their retailCORe programmes; this includes the business-training programme, retailENTERPRISE, and the youth employability scheme, retailRIGHT.

An Oxford Summer School course provides a wide insight into the scope of the retail industry; from production and shop floor roles, on to buying and marketing jobs, and out to CEO/CFO positions. At every level, the courses provide the guidance and development to showcase that, with the right career navigation and the necessary skills, retail industry workers can craft a successful, lifelong career.

retailTRUST chief executive, Richard Boland, said: “For 183 years we have been supporting the grassroots of this great trade of ours. By continuing to be the headline sponsors of the Oxford Summer School programmes, we are investing not only in the future of the sector we represent, but in growing the reach and relevance of the charity.

“Developing individual talent and creating the opportunity to aspire, for all involved, is central to our retailCORe programmes. We are privileged to work in an industry where you can start on the shop floor, and aspire to be in the boardroom.”

The foundation level course is scheduled for 13-17 July at St Catherine’s College, while the Academy level course will take place on 22-28 August, at Keble College, both colleges of the prestigious Oxford University.
