RJC appoints new chief executive officer

Ashish Deo appointed CEO by Responsible Jewellery Council board.

The Board of Directors of the Responsible Jewellery Council has appointed Ashish Deo as its new chief executive officer.

Deo brings global experience to the RJC team, having worked with leading international consumer and luxury brands, and most recently the Fairtrade Foundation as its commercial director.

His experience across Asian, North American and European markets will bring strong strategic and commercial skills to the Responsible Jewellery Council as it focuses on Asia as well as extending its reach in other international markets.

Deo will assist the RJC in asserting best practices across the international jewellery industry and will encourage businesses to uphold CSR principles.

He will work alongside chief operating officer Catherine Sproule and director of standards development Fiona Solomon, as the RJC enters its 10th year of operation.

RJC chairman James Courage said: “The Board of the RJC and I welcome the appointment of Ashish Deo who will bring a depth of experience in strategic and geographical skills. He will strongly complement the current management team to support membership growth and support services in all markets.”

Deo will assume the position on September 8 and will be based in the RJC’s London offices.
