One-of-a-kind MTV:DEFINE range auctioned at Aids benefit.
Royal Asscher teamed with art specialist Anna-Sophia van Zweden to create a limited edition collection exclusively for MTV RE:DEFINE, a one-of-a-kind collection that was auctioned at the inaugural MTV Staying Alive Foundation’s Aids Benefit art exhibition and auction on September 22.
The collection is said to have been inspired by beautiful and famous works of art and features diamonds, sapphires and rubies encased in a fluid-filled sapphire dome, which allows the stones to fall freely akin to a snow globe.
The collection of five rings and two matching pendants had a guide price of $25,000. The styles continue to feature free-floating diamonds encased in a fluid-filled sapphire dome, giving them the effect of shimmering stars.
Lita Asscher, president of Royal Asscher of America, said: “Throughout the years, it has remained incredibly important to us as a family and as a company to support causes aiming to make a positive difference in the world. MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation is an excellent organization working to change the lives of millions and we are honoured to use our passion for jewellery and art to help them continue this important work.”
Last year the sold-out VIP event raised more $700,000 (£433,000) for the charity with original works of art from 30 prominent international artists including Damien Hirst.
This year’s silent auction also featured an exclusive selection of bespoke luxury packages including a VIP package to the launch of Stella McCartney’s new collection in New York.
The results of the auction are yet to be posted.
