Midlands retailer offers advice and wishlist function for browsers.

Midlands retailer Rudell the Jewellers has launched a smartphone app for jewellery shoppers, featuring background history about the store, a ring sizing guide and information about the Four Cs.

The iPhone, iPod and iPad and Android app is available to download for free from the Apple store and Google Play.

The app allows users to view mainline collections from brands including Mikimoto, Links of London, Chopard, Fope and Roberto Coin, with a share function that links to social media sites such as Facebook.

Users can also follow links to buy products directly from the Rudells’ site, while a wishlist function allows them to save items they like to view again later.

App users can also find out their or others’ ring size using the British alphabetical system by placing a spherical ring on the phone’s screen and using a slider tool to measure the ring’s circumference.

The app features a detailed timeline of Rudells’ history as well as information about its service centre and repairs for watches and jewellery.

A statement from Rudells said: " [Rudells’ website manager] Mel Ricks has worked tirelessly on this project over the last few months, to ensure that we produced an app that is informative, enticing and simple to use. Never before has it been so easy to browse through Rudells inspiring portfolio."
