Four men have been charged in relation to the June smash-and-grab raid at Selfridges department store in which watches worth £1.5 million were taken.

According to a BBC report, the men were arrested following a police raid of eight addresses in North London, Islington and Hackney in East London, on Tuesday morning.

Additionally, two of the men were charged for their involvement in a robbery at Robert Gatward Jewellers in Windsor in Berkshire, which took place in April.

The BBC reported that Ritchie Graham, 23, from Islington, and Ramela Gordon, 18, from Stoke Newington, have been charged in relation to both the Selfridges robbery and the raid at Robert Gatward Jewellers.

Meanwhile, Kris Monaghan, 24, from Islington, and Leon Wright, 25, from Finsbury Park, were charged with conspiracy to commit robbery at Selfridges.

A fifth man, Andre Murrian, 19, from Stamford Hill, was charged in relation to the raid at Robert Gatward Jewellers. All the men have been remanded in custody to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today.

The Wonder Room at Selfridges is run by DM London, which owns The Watch Gallery and The Watch Hut. The arrest of the men has been welcomed by The Watch Gallery chairman David Coleridge. He said: “This is great news for The Wonder Room at Selfridges and the watch industry in general. It sends a strong message to those who commit this type of crime, that they will be caught and brought to justice. We thank the Flying Squad police for their continued efforts in finding the perpetrators.”

Two other men, Sam Curtin, 24, and Connor Groake, 19, were sentenced to jail time back in July for their part in the smash and grab at Selfridges, in which the thieves masqueraded as women in burkas.

The gang stole 140 watches from the department store, 41 of which were recovered at the scene by police. Watches stolen in the raid included models from Hublot, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Dreyfuss, Zenith, U-Boat, Raymond Weil, Blancpain, Frederique Constant, Burberry, Bremont, Baume & Mercier and Audemars Piguet.

Curtin and Groake pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob and aggravated vehicle taking.
