Award-winning designer to take over for an art-inspired January issue.
Award-winning jewellery designer Shaun Leane will take over Professional Jeweller as guest editor to create a very special January edition of the magazine.
To celebrate the start of Professional Jeweller’s second calendar year in business, we will be handing over the reins to Leane, who is planning to produce an inspiring issue that he believes will remind the industry why they fell in love with jewellery.
“I’m very excited to be guest editor of Professional Jeweller,” said Leane. “It will give me the opportunity to focus on some of the elements which I adore within our industry.”
Leane has decided that the issue will be dedicated to the blurring lines between jewellery and art. He said that he is hoping to inspire readers after a long year focused on the recession and very commercial jewellery.
Professional Jeweller editor Rachael Taylor said: “I am thrilled to have Shaun as our first ever guest editor. He has brought some fabulous ideas to the table and his dedication to the task is inspiring in itself.
“He has created a very exciting, inspiring and refreshing features list for the January issue that will blow away any lingering winter blues. As he told me at our last meeting, he is very excited about 2011 and very excited about Professional Jeweller as a new magazine in the sector and I think this will shine through in a stylish read with lots of substance.”
Taylor added that the issue will also feature a controversial front cover – Professional Jeweller’s first without a model. “It’s going to look very different under Shaun’s direction, as it should being a guest edited issue,” said Taylor. “Some people will hate it and some will love it but it will instantly get across Shaun’s message of jewellery as art.”
