SHOWCASE: Selim Mouzannar’s Ottoman opulence

Selim-Showcase.jpg

One-of-a-kind gold necklaces designed to be modern heirlooms.

This multi-chain necklace might evoke the charms and Albert fobs of the Victorian era, but its roots are entirely Lebanese.

It is from the gold and diamond-embellished Kastak collection by Beirut designer Selim Mouzannar, who is a guest designer at Annoushka’s boutiques. The range was created in reference to the Ottoman Empire, and the gold chains, once used for fob watches, are given a new lease as necklaces. Each trinket is chosen for its vintage aesthetic, and the Kastak necklaces can include photo lockets to carry images of loved ones, or gold tassels for added opulence.

Mouzannar aims to create modern heirlooms, reinterpreting and reusing ancient or found pieces to give them significance today.
