Silver boosts October hallmarking figures

Hallmarking figures compiled by Assay Office Birmingham for October 2017 show an increase in items assayed compared to the same period in 2016. 

Silver bolstered this year’s October figures, as it was the only precious metal to record a growth in the month.

The number of silver articles hallmarked increased by 25%, with palladium, gold and platinum falling by 34.7%, 8.4% and 2.1% respectively.

Overall, 1,054,779 articles were hallmarked in the month.
