Gang fail to gain access after smashing through shop window.

Staffordshire retail jeweller Salloways was the victim of an attempted robbery yesterday as a gang smashed through the window of the store.

At about 11.25am on Monday four men used a sledge hammer to smash through the window of the shop on Lichfield’s Bore Street but left empty handed after they failed to get inside the store.

Police are now launching an investigation to find the gang. Staffordshire Police detective sergeant Peter Goodwin said: “Despite their intentions and the damage caused, the robbers did not get inside the store.”
