Animal Instincts mega trend explores nostalgia, black magic and nature
Swarovski Elements presented its trend offerings for the autumns/winter 2011/2012 season in London today.
The brand hosts trend presentations twice a year to present new colours, cuts, application techniques and trend forecasts.
This year Swarovski Elements is focusing on the mega trend of Animal Instinct, with sub-trends Snow Rabbit, Brown Bear, Fox, Kingfisher and Horse.
Snow Rabbit presents a white palette that focuses on creating a winter wonderland that inspires a feeling of well-being and calm. The lingerie-inspired trend focuses on white, clear and rose crystals, faux fur, tiny pave-set crystals and glittering droplets.
Brown Bear is a more rustic, back-to-basics trend with a palette of chocolates, pumpkin, sunflower yellow and amber. For jewellers, amber-coloured crystals, ceramic beads are key for recreating this trend.
Fox sees Swarovski Elements make a bid for nostalgia using embroidery, crochet and fine chains decorated with crystals shaped like hearts and clovers. A new technique – the crystals are stamped in then treated with heat – makes it possible to stamp in crystals to leather without having any settings showing at the back of the leather.
Kingfisher is a brighter, more eccentric trend with feathers and turban-inspired fabrics. Fuscias, sunflower yellows and burnt oranges play a key role in this trend, as do ceramic beads and layered or stacked jewellery studded with Swarovski Elements. Decedance is order of the day.
Horse is the darkest trend in Swarovski Element’s new range. Sleek and majestic the palate features glamorous shades of black, smoky purple and midnight blue contrasting with nearly translucent crystals. Geometric shaped crystals, princess baguettes and sphinx eye fancy stones add a contemporary architectural feel.
