Swatch Group employs 40 in new takeover

New premises will be used for the ongoing expansion of the group.

Swatch Group has taken over the Energizer site in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, securing 40 jobs for former employees of Energizer.

Swatch Group company Universo, has signed a contract for the acquisition of buildings and land on rue Louis-Joseph Chevrolet 43 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, site of the former Energizer premises. The handover is due to take place on November 1.

The Swatch Group has said that it will initially employ some 40 former employees of Energizer, with the site adapted to the needs of the Swatch Group.

The new premises will be used for the ongoing expansion of the Group, and is likely to be an additional production site for Universo and other Swatch Group production companies.

Swatch Group has stated that "despite the extremely difficult situation with respect to the strong Swiss Franc", the group has continued its efforts to further strengthen the workplace Switzerland or, as in the present case, the Canton Neuchâtel, with its investments.
