Stateside retailers place orders for brand’s fine jewellery.
Tomasz Donocik is launching in the US after winning two prestigious awards and securing orders with retailers.
The London-based jewellery brand exhibited at US trade show Couture in Las Vegas for the first time this year, where it scooped two coveted awards.
The brand’s Courtship of the Hornbill ring won both the Debuting and Diamonds Above $20k categories of the Couture Design Awards, which are judged by designers, journalists and buyers.
The ring features intertwining Hornbills, encrusted with 5.9cts of black and white diamonds. The birds have been created with rubies for eyes and have beaks carved from mammoth tusk.
As well as the critical acclaim at the show, Tomasz Donocik, the brand’s founder and designer, said that he had received orders from US retailers. The stores placing orders were a mixture of department stores and independent retailers.
Donocik added that most retailers had placed orders for his fine collections over silver, with some asking for silver lines to be produced for them in gold.
Speaking of the show, Donocik said: "I’m incredibly happy to have won two awards. It means a lot to be recognised and appreciated at such a prestigious show and I’m looking forward to the new opportunities this has given me.”
Tomasz Donocik travelled to Couture with Rock Vaults, an initiative created by the British Fashion Council and Stephen Webster as part of London Fashion Week.
The brand recently exhibited in the UK at the Jewellery Show London, where it presented new collection Shard. The unisex range continues the edgy attitude of its previous Rising Star series with darts in silver, gold and black on a selection of chains.
In the UK, Tomasz Donocik stockists include Fortnum & Mason, Hervia, Cotton & Gems, Identity the Jewellers and Timothy Roe Fine Jewellery.
