Spiritual theme chosen for this year’s public bead design contest.

Danish charm bead brand Trollbeads has opened this year’s People’s Bead competition with a theme of ‘share your spirituality’, with the brand encouraging fans from all over the world to submit their own individual bead designs.

The public-wide competition is open to Trollbeads fans and budding jewellery designers. They are encouraged to enter a sketch for a Trollbead fitting the theme via the Trollbeads Universe site.

This year up to eight lucky winners having their bead made part of the wider Trollbeads collection from a final selection of 100 beads.

The six to eight winning designs will be translated into beads to create Trollbeads’ first Spiritual collection, set for launch in autumn this year.

Entries to the competition can be uploaded on the Trollbeads Universe website, with the closing date listed as February 1.

Last year’s winner Rolling Waves was a silver bead designed to represent the strength and unpredictability of nature, designed Denise Tong from Hong Kong. Tong was inspired by the tsunami that swept the east coast of Japan and left devastating damages in March last year.

Pax, the winner of the People’s Bead 2009 was the first bead in the collection to be designed by a Trollbeads fan rather than a professional designer and in 2010 a silver polar bear charm, dubbed the Ice Bear, was selected from more than 6,000 entries.
