Two jewellers attacked by armed robbers yesterday

Michael Jones and Forum Jewellers targeted by gangs in AM raids.

Michael Jones Jeweller in Banbury and Forum Jewellers in Broadstone were both the victims of crimes yesterday.

Forum Jewellers was robbed by a four-strong balaclava-clad gang, one of which was brandishing a gun, according to a report in the Bournemouth Daily Echo. The men stormed into the store, smashed up cabinets and fled with a bag of stock.

There were six staff in the Forum Jewellers store at the time and police have said that while nobody was hurt in the raid, they are very shaken up.

The attack at Forum Jewellers happened at 10.55am yesterday, and just minutes before at 10.30am in Banbury Michael Jones Jeweller was attacked by a gang wielding sledgehammers, according to a report in the Banbury Guardian.

Witnesses have reported that members of the public tried to intervene to stop the robbers, who escaped on mopeds. The fire brigade turned up on the scene not long after as security smoke plumed out of the store into the street.

This latest robbery is believed to be the third in four years at Michael Jones Jewellers.
