Aberdeen International Airport is seeking jewellery retailers to operate new concessions as part of a £20 million terminal project.

Retailers looking to move into the 276 square metre departure lounge should register their interest by the end of Q1 2017, with the stores being ready for fitting by Q1 2018.

The first phase of the three year terminal transformation project is nearing completion with phase two due to commence this summer, creating space for up to four new retail units.

The airport saw more than 3.1 million passengers travelling through it last year, the majority of which were aged 25 and 44 and belonged to the ABC1 group. It is expected that new flight routes in 2017 will see an additional 150,000 passengers.

AGS Airports group commercial director, Francois Bourienne, told Moodie Davitt Report: “The project will deliver a 50% increase in the size of the existing terminal, giving us the opportunity to increase Aberdeen’s existing retail offering to include several new stores in prime locations within the departure lounge.

“These stores will be very welcome additions for our passengers. We are confident the units will provide retailers with a unique, desirable space in which they can deliver a leading edge store to the millions of holidaymakers and business passengers travelling through Aberdeen every year.”
