Success for brand’s jewelled space at RHS Tatton Park Flower Show.
Whitby jet jewellery brand W Hamond has scooped a bronze medal at the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show for its jet-themed garden.
The brand was commissioned to create a space in the small garden category of the show. The garden, titled Whitby Jet – A Journey from Jurassic to Gemstone, was designed by gardener Fiona Alexander.
It was created as part of W Hamond’s work to educate consumers on the story and history of British gemstones and to showcase British manufacturing talents.
The garden was judged by a panel of five judges on a points based system based on the brief/purpose of the garden, the overall impression, overall design, construction and planting.
W Hamond’s garden depicted the evolution of the Whitby jet gemstone from its Jurassic beginnings as the wood of the Araucaria – or Monkey Puzzle – tree through the fossilisation process. The garden featured the largest piece of Whitby jet ever found.
