Wanderlust Life opens doors to first concept store

British jewellery brand Wanderlust Life has opened its first standalone store.

Wanderlust Life launched in 2013 as a small start-up business selling understated and minimal jewellery inspired by the world.

Four years on, Wanderlust Life now runs a successful online store and stocks over 40 stores across the UK & Europe. Now the brand has outgrown its small studio in Devon and decided to branch into retail by opening its first concept store in IIfracombe, Devon.

The new space is both a working studio and a store where the Wanderlust Life team can handcraft jewellery alongside an impressive retail area for customers to shop the brand’s entire collection.

The store provides a space for the team to hand-make the jewellery, and for customers to browse the Wanderlust Life collections. The store will also stock a carefully curated mix of gifts, plants and homeware, which complements the brand’s minimalist style.

“My inspiration was to bring to Ilfracombe a store that encapsulated the Wanderlust Life brand,” shares Wanderlust Life founder Georgie Roberts. “I wanted to create an inspiring space to work from and a space that our customers can drop in, shop and say hi. The new studio means our customers can now see, feel and touch our entire collection and of course to talk to the team who are on hand to help.”

“We’re a generation of online shoppers, but I still believe there is something unique about shopping in a physical space where you can experience the product,” Roberts adds.

Ilfracombe is a bustling seaside resort on the North coast of Devon, which is fast becoming a hub for independent shops, creatives, award winning restaurants and cultural happenings. Start-ups are looking to the town’s Victorian buildings as interesting low-cost spaces to start up and was a natural choice for the North Devon-based jewellery brand to open its first store.

For the store aesthetic, Wanderlust Life has mirrored its brand and jewellery aesthetic in a physical space. Reflecting the company’s paired back, minimalist nature, the exterior evokes IIfracombe’s Victorian seaside heritage, with striking curved floor to ceiling windows, while the interior presents the jewellery against a pared back black and wooden backdrop.

The team celebrated to launch with a meet the makers ‘Gin and Jewellery’ event, where consumers had the opportunity to view the entire collection, enjoy an exclusive discount and be in for the chance to win a goodie bag.

Wanderlust Life store and studio is open Monday-Friday, 9-5pm, and can be foundat 37 Fore Street.
