Watch Converse aims for slam dunk with CMJ members

Iconic American brand pushes into retail with sporty watch collection.

The watch collection of iconic American streetwear brand Converse will be offered to all members of The CMJ at its buying meeting in March.

Watch Converse was first bought to the UK late last year by Seiko UK, which believes that the huge spike in interest for sport and active pursuits this year will drive sales for the youthful brand’s watches.

“With 2012 being a year of hopes and dreams in the sporting arena, Converse watches will play a key role for those targeting fashion minded, athletic inspired consumers this summer,” said Graham Turner, brand manager for Watch Converse.

“I am delighted that Converse has been accepted into the CMJ buying group. It’s a great step forward for this new watch brand and I hope that the CMJ members will come and view our range at the next buying meeting,” he added.

The Watch Converse collection draws on the brand heritage of basketball, rock & roll and American youth culture. The All Star inspired designs bring the essence of sports style to everyday style and incorporates signature detailing and materials such as canvas and grommets which are also used in All Star shoes, the company explained.

There are 43 models split into 9 collections, each having their own distinctive designs including a choice of distressed straps, nylon cuffs and buttery-soft silicon straps mixed with low profile cases.
