Today is a busy day for London Jewellery Week (LJW), with more launches including the dedicated Goldsmiths’ Pavilion at Treasure, a special Central Saint Martins jewellery awards ceremony, the GIA open day and the unveiling of PureJewels Platinum Heritage Collection 2011.
Goldsmith’s Pavilion at Treasure
Launching today, the debut of the Goldsmiths’ Pavilion will launch the latest collections from the UK’s top fine jewellers. Find the Pavilion within Treasure – it will feature everything from intricate laser welded platinum jewellery by Tom Rucker to stunning architecture-inspired pieces by Daphne Krinos.
Cockpit Arts’ 25th Birthday Open Studios
Head to Cockpit Arts’ free-to-enter day of open studios, celebrating its 25th birthday. 165 makers will be selling cutting-edge jewellery and other designer pieces from their studios. Special celebrations will include a luxury pass-the-parcel for grown ups with stunning jewellery prizes, cocktails and cakes, party-hat making for kids, Alumni Showcase and more.
Central St Martins Jewellery Award 2011 in collaboration with Cool Diamonds
Starting at 18:30, head to the annual Central St Martins Jewellery Awards, this year hosted in association with Cool Diamonds. With a star-studded line up of judges hoping to launch the careers of the jewellery designers of tomorrow, including Dinny Hall, Ana Da Costa and Elizabeth Galton. This year’s final judging and awards ceremony will take place at Central St Martin’s College of Art and Design on Southampton Row – moments from Treasure – and with a change in tradition is open to the public.
Gemological Institute of America Open Day
The GIA London will open its doors for an annual open day, held during London Jewellery Week with a series of events celebrating London’s jewellery industry. Enter the world of diamonds, gemstones and jewellery with scheduled talks, tours of the building and staff available to answer questions about gemstones and GIA – the world’s foremost authority in gemmology.
Pure Jewels Platinum Heritage Collection Launch at Hilton Park Lane
This invite-only event will unveil the much-anticipated second Platinum Heritage Collection from London brand PureJewels. Crafted by highly skilled designer-makers which this year include Ana de Costa, Anthony Roussell and Cara Tonkin, the collection will be revealed at an exclusive VIP reception with a Bollywood flavour at the Hilton Park Lane.
The Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office Jewellery Fakes and Forgeries Seminar
This unique event is a must for collectors, dealers, auction houses, retailers and anyone interested in the world of jewellery and watches. Learn how to spot faked gemstones, hallmarks, jewellery and watches with hands-on sessions and lectures by experts from the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry and the Gemmological Association of Great Britain.
