Jeweller revives signet rings with exclusive collection for retailer.

CRED has announced the winner of its 2012 jewellery design competition as Will Floyd Maclean, an emerging talent who has put a fresh twist on men’s jewellery.

Maclean has now designed an exclusive collection for CRED and will join a lineup of designers stocked at the ethical jewellery retailer including Daisy Knights, Rachel Entwistle and Anna Loucah.

Maclean said: “With inspiration taken from traditional sailor tattoo imagery, my Sodalitas collection focuses on the sharing of two pieces between two people, whether companions or spouses, together or apart.”

The collection includes signet rings made with 100% recycled silver, while the name Sodalitas comes from Latin, and refers to belonging or companionship. The ring and pendant set from the collection has been designed to be shared and worn between friends or a couple.

Since 2008, the designers at CRED have worked closely with the MA students at John Cass Design School in London to share insights into the jewellery industry. The most promising designers have been given a platform at CRED to profile their collections and start their careers. Previous winners include Laura Strand and Emily Richardson with strand going on to become a designer at Pure Jewels.
