London-based cultural commentator and writer Raven Smith has teamed up with UK jeweller Alex Monroe for a new 18-piece jewellery line.

The handcrafted collection includes sterling silver and gold-plate, as well as solid 18ct gold.

Meanwhile, the non-gendered pieces are finished with Alex’s signature texturing.

The collection is priced between £135 and £1,140. It will be available online and in Alex Monroe boutiques from Friday 4 September.

Monroe commented: “I knew all about Raven well before the possibility of collaborating came up. I love his Instagram! I’ve also been really keen on breaking gender stereotypes.

“Over the years people often ask me if I made men’s jewellery and I always thought it a peculiar question. Lots of guys wear my jewellery already. So I was keen to explore non-gender-specific jewellery further, and I wondered if that was the sort of thing Raven would be interested in too. And he was.”

Writer Raven Smith added: “I love my personal jewellery so much, it has so much meaning, and I wanted to create a collection that has the same depth of ideology, whilst also being aesthetic.

“I loved creating the pieces from scratch, it’s always a challenge when you have carte blanche and the world’s your oyster, but I really dug into what makes a piece of jewellery feel like you’ll own it forever. I wanted classic, timeless everyday pieces with enough flair (sometimes secret) to feel notable. I love that each piece has a little mystery to be discovered.”

Alex Monroe established the brand over 30 years ago and has boutiques in Covent Garden and London Bridge.

Earlier this year Alex Monroe supported the Australian bushfire relief efforts. Read more below:
