Jewellery designers make UK Fashion & Textile Export Awards shortlist.
Jewellery designers Anna Lou of London and Alex Monroe have been shortlisted for this year’s UK Fashion & Textile Export Awards.
The designers have been shortlisted for the accessories category, which also includes sunglasses designer Linda Farrow. The jewellers beat off competition from a “landmark” number of entries, according to organisers the UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT).
UKFT deputy director Paul Alger said: “Even during a recession, there are some great export stories, which confirms that those businesses that have a unique product range, great organisational structure and well-executed marketing strategies can deliver increased sales and market share.
“The weak pound and strong euro has helped this, so too has a return to quality and a renewed interest in sourcing from the UK. As last year, the judges saw an impressive number of applications from companies that have established themselves as the best in their field and have developed over the past three years to become significant international players.”
The UK Fashion & Textile Export Awards celebrate excellence in international trade and recognise both established brands and up-and-coming designers. Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony on May 13 in London, which will be presented by HRH The Princess Royal and actress Joanna Lumley.
