Thieves broke through the front grille and window of the shop with a sledgehammer at around 4am on Tuesday morning. The police have appealed to the public for information related to the crime.

The jewellery stolen had an estimated value £100,000, but Guernsey officers said that it will take some time to discover the exact amount.
Inspector Trevor Coleman said: “I can confirm that a burglary took place at Paint jewellers.

“An amount of jewellery was stolen. Some has been recovered. We are not sure of the amount, mainly because it has taken some time to establish what has been taken.

“Three male adults have been charged and are due to appear in court at 9.30 this morning.”
