Parisian auction house to offer 350 lots from luxury jewellers.
Parisian auction house Artcurial is hoping to entice jewellery fans across The Channel with its December jewellery sale, featuring an array of Art Deco diamond-set pieces from some of France’s premier jewellery houses.
The auctioneer’s traditional end-of-year sale will take place on December 9 and it set to feature diamond, pearl and coloured gemstone jewels. Auctioneer François Tajan will take to the rostrum to offer some 350 lots to French and international bidders.
Julie Valade, director of Artcurial’s jewellery and watch department, said: "This year, we have been even more rigorous in our selection, bringing together the finest pieces that come only from private collections. Every era will be represented with a special focus on Art Deco jewellery. By the late 1930s, this movement had become a major source of inspiration for all jewellery artists."
An Art Deco tiara that transforms into five clip brooches will be offered at an estimate of €8,000 to €10,000 (£6,365 to £7,955) as well as a selection of diamond brooches, bracelets and earrings.
The sale will also present a number of Cartier lots, including a pair of drop earrings and plaque brooches. The catalogue includes a number of fine pearl necklaces, along with all types of round and baroque natural pearls, mounted in rings and earrings.
Artcurial also reports that loose diamonds will "feature strongly in the sale", with five carat stones among the lots, alongside yellow and orange-pink fancy stones and a variety of cuts including rounds, hearts, cushion, emerald and pear-shapes.
The sale will also offer diamond earrings by Van Cleef & Arpels, a Bulgari cabochon sapphire and ruby gold necklace, a Buccellati set and a 19th century necklace from a large private collection.
Other highlights in the catalogue include a 1980s René Boivin Quatre Corps gold and diamond ring and a pair of Man Ray earrings. One of the more light-hearted items amongst a selection of brooches and rings by Marchak is a pearl snowman brooch.
Artcurial reports that its Monte Carlo sales this summer realised €14,093,081, up 10% on 2013, and recorded several remarkable prices, for diamonds in particular.
