Goldsmiths’ Hall & Hatton Garden offices closed for 12 days.

The Assay Office London has announced its Christmas closing times, and is encouraging designers and retailers to get items hallmarked with plenty of time, to avoid a last-minute rush.

The Greville Street counter in Hatton Garden and the main office at the Goldsmiths’ Hall will close their doors at 12.30pm on Friday December 21, and will re-open on the morning of January 2, 2013.


The Assay Office has thus encouraged customers to use its priority services, including a one-hour service where get up to five items can hallmarked within the hour, as well as a same-day service offering 4pm collection of up to 10 items and will cost 100% on top of the standard hallmarking charges.

The Assay Office London has also been promoting its laser engraving service for hallmarking and personalised messaged ahead of Christmas, offering customers the chance to add engraved messages, signatures, serial numbers and stone weights to jewellery.
