StoreSpace optimises use of space across group’s retail portfolio.
Aurum Holdings, the parent group of Goldsmiths, Mappin & Webb and Watches of Switzerland, hopes to improve customer service by linking together data sources from across its companies and systems.
The group says it needs to better understand existing data to increase efficiency, highlight opportunity and improve profitability, while supporting its commitment to world class customer experience.
A key strand of data for all retailers is the planning of space within stores, which will be optimised with the use of StoreSpace by CA Design Services.
The project allows Aurum to link the computer aided design (CAD) plan of each store to SAP and analyse it to improve productivity. "CA Design’s StoreSpace software directly feeds the SAP database from our CAD drawings of each branch. StoreSpace proved to be flexible enough to accommodate the way we plan our stores (linear, by season, by brand) and deliver productivity improvements from a planner perspective," said Tim Bennett, Aurum’s head of store planning.
Guy Moates, director at C A Design Services, added: "In this fiercely competitive market, retailers are investing more in their physical stores, maximising every aspect of the experience they offer, from customer service and product range to store layout and design. By accurately surveying each store and then maintaining the integrity of the store plan through our StoreSpace software, our customers are saving money by avoiding repeat surveys and analysing and implementing best practice ranging within store."
A new AutoCAD plan was created for Aurum stores identifying all unitary, POS, poster sites and sizes. From there, all of the collected store information was added to the database via the AutoCAD plan.
The entire project delivered an integrated space and planning system complete with a property data portal and accurate details for each Aurum site. All accomplished within six months of the order being placed.
