The 64th edition of the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair has been hailed a great success, with sales generated at the event totalling more than £56 million.

The second show of the year, which took place September 10-14 2019, centred on the theme ‘Thailand’s Magic Hands: the Spirit of Jewellery Making’.

The fair attracted 13% more international visitors compared to the same edition last year. Organisers attribute this to higher interest in Thai gems and jewellery products, as well as heightened confidence of foreign buyers towards the quality of the products and security of the event itself.

In total, the 64th show welcomed 15,188 visitors from 110 countries.

Over the five days of the event, sales generated totaled $70 million {£56.3m).

Products with the highest value of trade at the fair were gemstones, silver jewellery, fine jewellery, machinery, and diamonds, respectively.

At the opening ceremony of the 64th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit, Minister of Commerce of Thailand revealed that: “The 64th edition of the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair is held under the theme of “Thailand’s Magic Hands: The Spirit of Jewelry Making” which showcases the uniqueness of Thailand’s gems and jewellery products that have been made by talented craftspeople together with the new generation of designers with creative ideas. These characteristics have propelled Thailand to become the manufacturing and trading hub for international traders, or the Jewellery Hub, that has been internationally recognized for its unique jewellery, high quality, creative designs, and the use of new technology together with the craftsmanship of Thai artisans.”

The Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair is an international gem and jewelry trading platform that offers a stage for Thai entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and designers to present the best gem and jewellery products to international markets in line with the government’s policy to promote exports across all main industries by maintaining and expanding existing export markets, penetrating new markets, and reviving former markets that have shown potential for growth.

Meanwhile, buyers, sellers, and visitors participated in various activities to promote trading at the fair such as the networking reception, seminars on jewellery-related topics, jewelley-making demonstrations, and special exhibitions.

The 65th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair is being held on February 25-29, 2020 at Challenger Halls 1, 2 and 3 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.
