A Q&A with PJ Watson managing director, John Watson, on what visitors can expect from the Picchiotti stand this year.
What will Picchiotti be launching at the show?
The Basel show is the most important show for Picchiotti. Picchiotti always create many special items of jewellery to be unveiled here often featuring some of the rarest gems available, in fact many of the new creations are kept a secret even from me until the first day of the show. That being said Picchiotti will also be launching new models in their Xpandable line of expandable rings and bracelets.
What’s Picchiotti’s main focus for 2017?
In the UK our main focus for 2017 will be to open up with new retailers. The launch of the Xpandable range has broadened our consumer market and we have had great interest from retailers of whom we have not had the pleasure to deal with before.
How has Picchiotti been growing in the UK over the last 12 months?
I am happy to say that Picchiotti’s UK business has grown year on year from 2015 to 2016, which I feel is quite an achievement given the events of 2016. We started business with a number of new retailers whilst continuing to support our loyal customers. Growing on this base we hope 2017 will be even better.
Do you have any UK goals for Picchiotti this year?
Our main goal is to spread the word about Picchiotti’s Xpandable collection which is quite revolutionary. This is something all jewellery retailers should be aware of as it solves some many problems faced by all customers.
What was your show highlight from Basel last year?
It is hard to pick just one piece as a highlight. Picchiotti never cease to amaze me with the natural untreated colour gems they are able to source, they out do themselves every year.
