A post on its website has revealed that Birmingham City University played home to the upcoming BBC jewellery contest show All That Glitters when it was filmed last summer.

All That Glitters will pit eight contestants against one another across six episodes, the first of which will air next Tuesday, 13 April at 8pm on BBC Two.

Comedian Katherine Ryan will host while the contestants’ creations will be judged by jewellery designers Shaun Leane and Solange Azagury-Partridge.

It has now been revealed by Birmingham City University that the filming of All That Glitters took place in its Birmingham School of Jewellery, in the city’s historic Jewellery Quarter.

The post on the university’s website also revealed that the competing jewellery designers will be expected to create two pieces as part of the contest.

The first they will produce for a mass market, and the second bespoke piece will be tailored for a specific client.

Judge Shaun Leane was quoted as saying: “It fills me with joy to see the art of jewellery making, which I have practiced for 36 years, come to life on the screen and be transmitted into homes for everyone to enjoy.

“The programme perfectly captures jewellery as a craft with all its different facets of intricacy, emotion, dedication and passion.”
