First year School of Jewellery student Danielle Laurent has had her jewellery collection Wishes chosen to go on sale exclusively at Argos.

Laurent beat off competition from 50 other students to design an exclusive collection on behalf of Argos.

For the second year running, the Argos jewellery team have challenged first year students studying for a BA (Hons) Jewellery Design & Related Products degree to designing and create a four piece jewellery collection. The students were briefed in Spring 2015 and given four weeks to create their prototypes and present back to the Argos jewellery team, explaining their inspiration behind their collection and how they incorporated upcoming industry trends.

Laurent wowed the Argos panel with her Wishes collection which features a pendant necklace, T-bar bracelet and earrings in 9ct gold plated and sterling silver. The collection is inspired by dandelions and summer days spent wishing on dandelion seeds, allowing people to carry their own wishes with them wherever they go.

“It’s amazing to see my designs in Argos. It’s mind-blowing to think that people all over the country could be wearing these designs. This has been a great experience and a wonderful springboard for my career in jewellery design,” comments Laurent.

Alice Rigby, jewellery buying manager at Argos, comments: “Danielle’s designs really beautiful and it’s fantastic that she can now reach millions of people through Argos with her designs, available from our stores and on our highly popular website.

“We’ve been working closely with Danielle for the past six months to help her learn about the design, development and manufacturing process that goes into creating a winning design. Argos are really proud to be supporting the next generation of jewellery designers.”

The Danielle Laurent Wishes collection is available now and prices start from £24.99.
