The historic English city of Chester has seen not one but two high street jewellers open stores in the past few days.

Professional Jeweller reported on Wednesday (27 April 2022) that multiple retailer Beaverbrooks had reopened its Chester store.

This was following the £750,000 refurbishment of the 35-year-old site.

Now, Watches of Switzerland Group retailer Mappin & Webb has debuted a new unit in the northwest city.

CheshireLive reported that the new site will replace a former, smaller Mappin & Webb location in Chester on the city’s Eastgate Row.

The new store is in a Grade II-listed building on Chester’s Eastgate Street.

The new store includes a dedicated Rolex area as well as its own bar for customers.

It will also retail Mappin & Webb brands like Fope, as well as its own-brand pieces.

Professional Jeweller has reached out to Mappin & Webb and Watches of Switzerland Group for comment on the new opening.
