Finely detailed jewellery inspired by fantasy, romance and violence.

As Guest Editor, Annoushka Ducas was tasked with selecting an emerging jewellery talent for January’s Bench Fresh.

She chose to feature the work of recent jewellery graduate Payson Ni, who produces finely detailed work that Ducas describes as "absolutely beautiful".

Ni says her jewellery designs sit “somewhere between fine art and fashion”. Her graduate collection Underworld features five knuckledusters inspired by Chinese gardens and the legendary stories of Chinese swordsmen and women.

The creations combine symbols of oriental romance, fantasy and violence, with tiny Chinese huts embellished with sharp elements to represent weapons.
