Award-winning luxury jeweller, Berry’s, is set to open a second store in York next month.
The family-run business will be opening its doors to a new boutique in the space previously occupied by Crabtree and Evelyn.
Berry’s acquired the retail property on Number 1 Stonegate earlier this year.
The second branch is just a stone’s throw from Berry’s current boutique in York, which has been open in the city for 30 years and is located at number 52 Stonegate.
Berry’s originally hoped the second shop would be open by July but work has been delayed. The jeweller now believes the doors will be open in November, ahead of Christmas trading.
The new boutique will feature a showroom on the ground floor, alongside a VIP room upstairs with views over St Helen’s Square.
Managing director Simon Walton said earlier this year that Berry’s had been looking for another location in York for a couple of years and “jumped at the chance” when the building became available.
“It’s a wonderful site and we are delighted to own such a prestigious location,” Simon Walton, Berry’s managing director told our sister publication, WatchPro.
“We believe with the opening of another Berry’s shop, every major watch brand is now available in one street in the wonderful city of York. It remains one of the main tourist destinations in the UK and we have built up a loyal local clientele over many years.”
Berry’s Jewellers scooped two accolades at the 2019 Professional Jeweller Awards.
The retailer’s Leeds flagship was honoured as the Best Store Refurbishment of the Year, while managing director, Simon Walton, secured the Business Leader of the Year accolace on the night.
