Birmingham Assay Office to host talks at Treasure


Seminars to help consumers understand hallmarking and diamonds.

The Birmingham Assay Office will host a series of workshops at consumer jewellery show Treasure during London Jewellery Week.

The talks at Treasure will be led by Birmingham Assay Office curator Sally Baggott who will give oresentations on consumer protection, the origin of hallmarking, how to read and understand a hallmark and the vital role hallmarks play today.

Craig O’Donnell, an experienced senior valuer from the SafeGuard independent jewellery, watch and silverware valuation service, will also hold a talk during treasure. He will discuss what to look for when buying diamonds.

Baggot and O’Donnell will also be holding a jewellery clinic, allowing people to bring in their jewellery for examination and discussion.
