Day to help Argos expand with “fresh and exciting” product ranges.

The British Jewellers’ Association (BJA) has teamed up with high street retailer Argos to offer jewellery designers and smaller producers the chance to meet its buyers at an event in January.

It has been organised “as part of the ongoing journey to keep product ranges fresh and exciting” at Argos, and will enable the company to meet with UK jewellery designers “to introduce even more inspiration and customer choice” to its rapidly expanding jewellery collections.

Mark Steel, the trading manager at Argos for jewellery and watches said: “Jewelley has been a big part of our business since the early days and we are passionate about offering our millions of customers contemporary designs at affordable prices.

“We want to unlock British jewellery design talent and give designers the opportunity to reach these customers, so we are very excited about our Meet the buyers event.”

Designers and small-scale brands will be able to meet with the Argos representatives to discuss new product development and design concepts.

Simon Rainer, chief executive of the BJA said: “We are pleased that our ongoing commitment in helping BJA members take their products to market is greatly aided by Argos’s strong desire to work with new designers and small producers.

“I look forward to a very successful outcome and am heartened that Argos also sees the event as being an opportunity to provide an insight in how to work with a multiple retailer.”

Those interested in the event are asked to contact Jo Robinson at Argos, via email. The informal Meet the Buyers event will be hosted a the Jury’s Inn in Milton Keynes on January 10.

At present, Argos’ jewellery portfolio includes a large number of in-house lines, alongside jewellery from brands including Clogau Gold, Truth, Antica Murrina and Ortak.
