Ceremony to take place in December at BJGF Benevolent Ball.

The British Jewellers’ Association (BJA) is planning to host a members’ awards ceremony in December to mark the organisation’s 125th anniversary this year.

The awards will be voted for by the industry and there are five categories: BJA Member of the Year, BJA Supplier of the Year, BJA Industry Contributor of the Year, BJA Designer of the Year and BJA Retailer of the Year.

BJA marketing and PR manager Lindsey Straughton said: “Through this new awards programme, we are absolutely delighted to promote the efforts of our membership. Too often, the great work and service our members provide to the industry goes unrecognised and this new initiative is a great opportunity to showcase their products, services and achievements.”

The awards will take place during the annual British Jewellery and Giftware Federation Benevolent Ball in Birmingham on December 6.

Nominations are now open and industry members are invited to put forward their suggestions as to which BJA members they think should win the awards, which can be done at the BJA’s website or on the BJA’s stand at The Jewellery Show this week.

The nominations window will close on September 10 with a shortlist drawn up by a panel of industry experts before being thrown back to the industry for a final voting process that will run until November 26.

The winners of the awards will be presented with a commemorative plaque at the dinner and will also be given a specially designed BJA awards logo to use on their own marketing material.
