Designer brand launches Baroque Boom range with grenade-style clasps.
Bobby White has unveiled a new men’s collection of pearl jewellery titled Baroque Boom, featuring sizeable white, copper and purple baroque pearl bracelets.
The collection was created in reaction to the growing vogue for unusual, contemporary pearl jewellery, and aims to give male jewellery shoppers a slice of the trend.
A statement from the brand said: "2013 was the year of the pearl. Pearls were rarely out of the fashion press with Chanel, Dior, McQueen and Vuitton showcasing pearls on the catwalk. [But] can men wear pearls? Well, at Bobby White London we think hell yes you can".
The brand’s creative director Bobby White was said to have fallen in love with the story of pearls and their journey, leading to the creation of the range for men. Each bracelet features a clasp of White’s signature Boom grenade, with wearers ‘pulling the pin’ to open and close the clasp.
"The faults are what make baroque pearls so desirable," White said. "Baroque pearls have a unique look, and really catch people’s attention. They are more exciting than a traditional pearl and we believe they are more masculine."
The brand is using pearl of about 14mm to 15mm in diameter, with each bracelet made in Bobby White’s Hatton Garden work studio.
