A new jewellery retailer specialising in gemstones is set to open later this year in the Cotswolds.
The owner, Helen Plumb, is a gemmologist and collects gems from around the world which she has turned into necklaces, rings, bracelets, cufflinks and more.
The shop in Winchcombe will feature rubies collected from Thailand, amber from Burma and diamonds, jade and sapphires from other countries. Plumb will soon be travelling to Columbia to source emeralds.
Plumb insists that the gems are sourced responsibly, only bought from mines where she knows the owners and that the miners have been fairly treated.
Plumb was formally a geologist with BP and set up a shop, Just Gems, in Aberdeen a decade ago but now has plans for a successful business in the Cotswolds.
She explained to Gloucestershire Live: “I love every minute of it. I’ve got really nice customers and goldsmiths. It’s a real privilege to help people celebrate their special occasions with something unique.”
