BREAKING: GemGenève team ‘saddened’ to cancel 2020 show

GemGenève has announced the decision to call off its November 2020 show due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The event’s organiser announced the news in a statement this morning, saying it was “saddened” to make the decision.

“The current pandemic, travel restrictions and increased sanitary precautions make it impossible for GemGenève to be the interactive experience that we intend it to be,” the statement read.

It also confirmed that all exhibitors will be reimbursed, and will soon be able to sign up for next year’s event, which it hopes will go ahead as normal.

The statement closed: “The GemGenève team remains optimistic to moving forward after the pandemic, and will continue to work towards planning our 2021 show.”

GemGenève co-founder, Ronny Totah, added: “As with all unexpected situations, we must make use of our creativity in order to find a way to overcome these challenges. GemGenève is currently exploring various directions in order come out stronger.”

The show had recently garnered the praise of fellow exhibition Jewellery & Gem World (JGW) Hong Kong, which also announced its cancellation today, after GemGenève brought its dates forward in order to not clash with JGW 2020. Read more below:
