Italian jewellery house Chimera Glamour hopes to make the Calgaro brand a global name with an international re-launch.

The Italian jewellery brand was purchased by Chimera, owned by the Anselmi family, in December 2012. Chimera now plans to reposition Calgaro as a leading fine jewellery brand with the intention of winning high jewellery stockists across Europe.

In-house roles at Calgaro will be maintained despite the re-launch with Monica Fin continuing to design for the brand.

Calgaro was founded in 2002 in Vicenza, Italy, and became known for its finely woven gold and silver chain jewellery which is intricately handmade.

Chimera has been producing French and Italian jewellery since 1980. It says the acquisition of Calgaro continues its commitment to the production of "Made in Italy" brands; jewellery and accessories from Venti Dieci are also part of the Chimera Glamour group.

DMJ was announced as UK distributor for Calgaro in January this year. It showcased the collection at The Jewellery Show at Spring Fair in February.
