Company invests £50k in environmentally friendly German technology.
UK precious metal refiner Capella Manufacturing has doubled its gold refining capacities with the arrival of a brand new integrated refining machine from Germany.
The refiner invested £50,000 in the new kit, which enables it to refine far greater quantities of metal without additional heat, making it a much more efficient refining process with a reduced impact on the environment.
The new integrated refining system is now fully operational at Capella. It features a fume reduction system which helps to cut the production of waste products, making it one of the most environmentally sound refining machines.
Roy Massey, director at Capella, said: “Our new cutting edge equipment not only allows us to operate more efficiently, but now means that we are able to cater to businesses that require larger quantities of metals processing.
“Although it can be adapted to refine many different precious metals, we anticipate that the new Integrated Refining System will be predominantly used to refine varying grades and purities of gold.”
The new machinery is more widely used in the Middle East – where a great deal of the world’s refining takes place – than in Europe, and is set to process double the quantity of alloyed metal at Capella.
Kevin Bloor, managing director of Capella, added: “Having developed a strong reputation for quality and service within the industry, and with the demand for Capella’s services continuing to grow, this investment will have a huge impact on our ability to upscale the business.”
Capella is one of only three pure gold refineries in the UK, and a leading bullion dealer. It is the first and the only refining company in the UK which has been audited and FLO-CERT accredited to process Fairtrade and Fairmined gold.
