Carol Smillie models for Ortak jewellery

Ortak has announced that Scottish TV presenter Carol Smillie and her daughter Christie Knight have been signed up to front the brand’s new A/W 2010 campaign.

Smillie and Knight, 15, will be following in the footsteps of a range of celebrities, including Jill Halfpenny, Amanda Lamb, Myleene Klaas, Suzanne Shaw and Kate Ford, all of whom have modelled for the Orcadian brand.

This is the first time a duo will star in an Ortak campaign. The images, to be revealed later this month, feature Smillie and Knight modelling a new romantic theme with a military twist, which echoes the new A/W 2010 collection.

The campaign was shot at Sloans Bar and Restaurant in Glasgow by fashion photographer Stephen Kearney and styled by Janis-Sue Smith.

Smillie said: “I’m very proud of my Scottish roots and jewellery is definitely one of my guilty pleasures so I jumped at the chance to become the new face of the Ortak. It’s a company that is steeped in Scottish heritage, but at the same times maintains a fashion forward position through modern and contemporary designs.

“Working alongside my daughter was also a great pleasure, it brings back memories of when I first starting modelling, we had a fantastic time together on the shoot and were really impressed by the new collection – the pieces are beautiful.”

Knight added: “This was a really exciting job for me – it’s an honour to be the face of such a strong Scottish brand and I loved working with my mum, we had lots of fun on the day and I can’t wait ‘til the campaign is launched.”

Ortak’s new collections, which are a mix of feminine and intricate forms, strong graphic designs and military inspired styles, will be available in stores from September 2010.
