High jewellery exclusive to store is inspired by classic princesses.

Chopard has teamed with Harrods to launch a collection of high jewellery inspired by 10 princesses from Disney tales.

Fine jewellery designs have been weaved around the stories of fictional princesses Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Cindarella, Jasmine from Aladdin, Mulan, Pochahontas, Rapunzel, Snow White, Tiana from The Princess and the Frog and Sleeping Beauty.

Each design, which has been masterminded by Chopard co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele, pays homage to its princess through stone choice, design and some more literal elements such as Snow White’s apple transformed into a ring or totem poles used as the clasps for a cuff inspired by Pocahontas.

Scheufele said: “I have always loved the world of fantasy and honoured the relationship that Chopard has with the film industry. The world of Walt Disney has often been an inspiration for a variety of Chopard pieces and I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to design the famous Princesses’ pieces of jewellery. Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, and all the other ones have been a great source of inspiration for me, giving birth to this new elegant yet playful collection of haute joaillerie – a perfect expression of the Chopard aesthetic.”

The designs were unveiled at London department store Harrods this morning. The store will have exclusivity on the one-off designs until January at which point, if any have failed to sell at the store – and staff at Harrods are modestly confident of selling the pieces – they will be exhibited elsewhere around the world until buyers are found.

Harrods GMM of fine jewellery and beauty Annalise Quest said: “We are delighted to have collaborated with Chopard and Disney to bring Caroline Scheufele’s inspirational designs to life and to host this extraordinary collection of Disney Princess inspired haute joaillerie here at Harrods. We strive to create unique and inspiring experiences for our customers and this magical collection is without doubt the fine jewellery highlight of our festive calendar.”

The launch of the collection ties in nicely with Harrods’ festive window displays this year, which have likewise been themed in line with Disney princesses, each one wearing a dress created by a renowned fashion designer. Oscar de la Renta, Versace and Elie Saab are just some of the names that have created dresses to bring the myths of the princesses alive in the store’s windows.

Last Christmas Harrods teamed with Swarovski for its festive celebrations, filling the store and its famous windows with creations studded with Swarovski crystals.
