Hill & Hill the Jewellers, in Altrincham’s Stamford Quarter, has become only the second ‘fledgling’ member of the Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ).

The retailer’s store in Northwest England opened its doors for the first time in 2019.

The CMJ’s new fledgling membership category has been created to give newly established jewellery retailers the opportunity to benefit from being part of the CMJ at a time when the support and expertise of the group can prove even more valuable to a young business.

Fledgling members will receive full access to all of the CMJ’s benefits, including exclusive terms with suppliers, single-point invoicing and marketing support.

Amber Saunders, CMJ director of membership development, said: “We are delighted to welcome Hill & Hill the Jewellers to the CMJ family.

“They have a fabulous store in an area that was without a CMJ retailer, and as they already work with a number of CMJ suppliers they are a perfect fit for our group.

“[Hill & Hill director] Jo Hill is well known and experienced in the industry and I am sure will be a great asset to our membership. We look forward to working with Jo and her team.”

Jo Hill, director of Hill & Hill the Jewellers, added: “It was almost inevitable that we would apply to be a retail member of the CMJ.

“I am already a supplier to the CMJ with my training and consultancy company JHJC and have enjoyed many of the benefits of membership, both financial and beyond.

“The CMJ really supports all of its members – whether retailers or suppliers.

“Hill & Hill already stocks many CMJ suppliers and we are looking forward to growing these mutually beneficial relationships as well as finding new products and suppliers to work with.”
