CMJ welcomes three new retailers to membership

The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) has approved three new retailers as part of the group’s on-going strategy to grow its membership.

The three newest retailers to join the jewellery buying group are: Originals Jewellers & Gallery in Odiham, Riverstones Fine Jewellery in Hebden Bridge and Tienne, which has stores in Longridge and Southport.

These three new businesses take the CMJ’s total number of retail members up to 161, with more than 400 doors across the UK and Ireland.

Originals Jewellers in Odiham is an independent retailer on the Hampshire/Surrey border. Its smart, modern gallery also has an on-site workshop, offering a full range of services from simple repairs to a full re-design and re-make for private clients. The store’s director, Jo Kelsey, was named as a Retail Star in this year’s Professional Jeweller Hot 100.

Speaking of the company’s decision to join the CMJ, Kelsey commented: “I have been working in the industry for 30 years and although I know a few of the local jewellers, I have always felt isolated and on the fringes of the industry. I think that being a member of a collective of like-minded independent retailers will only help our ultimate goal of keeping the high street alive.”

Riverstones Fine Jewellery is a family-owned business based in the heart of historic market town Hebden Bridge. The business specialises in both antique and contemporary jewellery and stocks fashion brands including Clogau, Hot Diamonds, Jersey Pearl and Fiorelli.

Founded in 2003, Tienne now has two jewellery stores selling brands including Swarovski, Thomas Sabo and Nomination. The business also owns a Pandora concept store in Southport.

Following the announcement, CMJ chief executive Willie Hamilton, said: “We are pleased to announce the further expansion of our membership with the addition of these three quality, independent retail jewellers. So often, retailers hear about the benefits of the CMJ from fellow businesses who then recommend that they apply. The key factor that is so appealing is that they can take advantage of all of the benefits of being a member without losing any of their independence as a retailer – everything that we offer simply enhances and supports their existing business.
