The Rofin, now called Coherent, laser welder has become an essential tool for every workshop, and these professional best-in-class lasers will serve you year after year.

Laser welders allow you to repair and build up any metal item with an adjustable laser beam from 0.2 – 2.6mm in diameter. You can retip with a gem in place saving you time and money, create seamless platinum joins and burnish for a quicker final polish.

For welding seams, like re-sizing a shank, a fast laser repetition is essential for perfect cavity-free seams. Typically using a 0.25 or 0.3mm laser wire, which has identical properties as the item you are repairing, to fill any holes or recesses.

Watch restorers may use matching stainless steel or titanium for invisible repairs, flooding unwanted engraving or restoring worn lugs and watch bracelets. Close inspection will reveal if a watch has been polished to remove scratches but adding material and polishing back retains the original ‘as-new’ form.

These easy-to-use laser welders allow you to adjust the voltage, the milliwatts (length of the laser beam), beam diameter and repetition speed. Silver has a higher reflection and heat absorption, so requires higher power than say titanium. With a pre-set menu you can quickly select a saved setting, remembering a 1mm wire will need less power than a shank.

The best-selling unit is the Desktop 7004 XE Power for all round welding on all metals. If you have 4 or more goldsmiths, then the free-standing Performance 7002 laser welder is designed for higher volume use and has a larger working chamber for larger items.

Free installation and training plus a 10-year service and warranty package available.
