Colibri revived as jewellery and cufflink brand

1920s smoking brand given new lease of life; set to drive UK focus.

Historical smoking brand Colibri has relaunched as a men’s jewellery and accessories brand, with plans to drive forward it presence in the UK.

Colibri was founded in 1928 by Julius Lowenthal and began life as a men’s lighter brand specialising in technically sophisticated but carefully designed products.

The brand’s current creative director Laurence Lassalle said he could not believe his luck when re-discovering Colibri: "We couldn’t believe what we had discovered. A famous brand with an international heritage that had been almost forgotten."

He describes the brand as "an open page for the travel retail market". Products include stainless steel and black agate cufflinks, men’s bangles and engraved dog tag pendants.

A spokesperson for the brand in the UK said it is actively working on creating wider visibility in the UK through distribution arrangements and exhibiting new product at key trade fairs in the UK. .
