WINNER: Unique & Co – Modern Earth
After winning this title the last three years in a row and being a market leader in the UK for the growing men’s jewellery market, Unique & Co entered the running again to see if it could secure the top spot for the fourth consecutive year. We can now reveal the brand succeeded in its mission, this time winning with a whopping 62% of the votes. This year the supplier’s Modern Earth ranges, launched for AW19, became an instant hit at the jewellery fairs and then went on to sell extremely well in-store. Featuring a mix of satin and polished finishes for a modern feel and contrasting with matt leathers in earthy tones, natural woods, abalone and hematite, the Modern Earth collection blends the perfect balance of groomed, modern living with a casual, wear-anywhere style. Unique & Co has seen men’s jewellery sales increase by 8% this year from a very high level in 2018. To date, over 500 accounts have taken on the company’s male offer, with this sector of the market becoming one of the fastest growing for the business. The use of innovative designs and the introduction of new materials have been highly commended.
Anchor & Crew – Natural Stone & Vinyl
The introduction of men’s bracelet designs featuring unusual materials has brought a brand new audience to Anchor & Crew this year. By encompassing big fashion elements and bringing them to life with fresh materials such as vinyl and nila djenne glass, Anchor & Crew has increased its appeal and caught the eye of consumers that have never before made a purchase with the brand. The new bracelet offer has also been picked up by loyal fans who have enjoyed stacking their existing pieces with products from the new line. All Anchor & Crew bracelets are designed to complement other collections, so a customer can easily wear a new natural stone piece alongside Anchor & Crew’s original Rope and Leather collections. Anchor & Crew continues to innovate in the area of men’s jewellery as it champions ambitions to become a full lifestyle brand.
Buckley London – Harley
Entering its second year in the men’s jewellery market, Buckley London has introduced several new collections to the ‘For Him’ label, including Harley, which has quickly become a bestseller. Harley is a fashion-led range comprising necklaces, rings and chunky bracelets suitable for the modern man. The collection, crafted in stainless steel, has been specifically designed to be layered up with all the pieces complementing one another. Designs are bold, with masculine characteristics, and aim to push the boundaries of traditional men’s jewellery with a selection of products at accessible price points. With an easy-to-wear aesthetic, Harley has quickly established itself as a popular choice for both retailers and consumers with its timeless silhouettes and durable finishes.
Deakin & Francis – Moving Scene
Continuing to innovate in the field of men’s jewellery design, particularly with cufflinks, Deakin & France introduced the playful ‘Moving Scene’ collection this year. Taking on the iconic landscapes of London and New York, this unique line features a moving mechanism whereby consumers can twist the outer edge to watch bicycle wheels spin and the city backdrop pass by. Motivated by the wonderful sights and landmark buildings that each city has to offer, the London design features the Tower of London, Houses of Parliament and the Shard, while the New York City skyline has been painted with the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and Brooklyn Bridge. At the heart, Moving Scenes recreates the sense of fun and freedom men enjoy when riding their bicycles.
Tateossian – Rocket Man
British jewellery brand Tateossian has successfully taken consumers down the yellow brick road with a collection that celebrates decades of hits by Elton John. Aptly named ‘Rocket Man’, the exclusive capsule collection nods to the star’s much-loved classics from Tiny Dancer to I’m Still Standing. Pieces include leather bracelets adorned with motifs of the pop sensation himself, cufflinks with Elton John’s signature logo adorned with Swarovski crystals, and a pin and tie clip inspired by the singer’s iconic glasses. The collection also includes rockets with spinning tails that have been brightly hand enamelled for a playful look. As a whole the collection is colourful and perfectly celebrates the career of an icon. The Signature Logo cufflinks and the Star Glasses tie pin have been particularly popular, with these two products selling out in the same month it launched.
